Join the National Youth Jazz Orchestra every Friday for an 8-week project, giving young people the chance to explore writing their own lyrics/poetry/spoken word/raps!
Fridays... 4pm - 6pm
Are you keen to find your own voice as a writer?
Would you like the chance to explore the links between words and music within a safe and open creative space?
Together with support from experienced NYJO musicians, you will discover how to express your ideas through writing, and the many different ways that words and music can combine to tell a story or share a creative vision. You will have the chance to write & perform your own words throughout this project, which will then be recorded as part of a soundscape that will feature in NYJO’s performance at We Out Here Festival in 2024.
Rotating between People Dem Collective and Arts Education Exchange (both Margate based), you will be given a timetable once places are confirmed.
For young people aged 14 - 18 with an interest in word, voice or percussion. You could be interested in singing, rapping, poetry, writing, making beats or even talking.
You do not need to have any previous writing/music experience to take part.
Please apply by filling out this short form by 9th of May
