The Viking Gallery

The Viking Gallery is a stunning, newly refurbished art space in in Margate’s up-and-coming Cliftonville.

This beautiful art deco building is just a short walk from the seafront and local attractions including the Turner Contemporary and the Walpole Bay Hotel.

Having used the skills of tradesmen and artisans almost entirely from Thanet, this new space will provide the opportunity for all artists - local, international, emerging and established - to show their work in the light that Turner described as the “loveliest in all Europe”.

The gallery can be hired by local artists & artisans to display thier own works.

It can be hired for conferences, classes: ie, yoga, life drawings etc.  there is a drinks licence for the premises.

In an earlier life the building was used as a Turkish Bath and the old iron furnace with its red frontage has been retained to remind us of the history of the building.

Our logo is a small replica of the Hammer of Thor worn by Viking warriors on a leather thong as a talisman. It was often crudely carved, sometimes cast in metal and was believed to bring good luck to its wearer.

Open: Thursday- Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays 12pm - 6pm

Other times by appointment.
