Walpole Bay Hotel, Museum and Napery
The historic Margate Walpole Bay Hotel was built for discerning guests in 1914, extended in 1927 and is now being lovingly restored to her former glory by the Bishop family.
The centre piece of our museum - our original trellis gated Otis lift which is a marvellous accolade to Otis' engineering skills.
All around you in our Reception Lounge, Bar and Dining Room are display cabinets full of interesting objects, mainly from the period and many donated by our clients and well wishers. We have exhibition of 19th and 20th century glass on the south wall and the original toaster from our kitchen has pride of place on the salon table.
Don't forget the Napery - textile art on linen table napkins- over 200 works on napkins in various mediums- oil, watercolours, poems. The Napery includes original work by Tracey Emin, local and international artists, musicians and previous guests.
