Tony Swandale - Winter Flocks of Ducks, Geese and Waders
02 Nov 2016
Join expert birder, Tony Swandale, for a bird walk in Pegwell Bay Country Park (Sandwich Road, between Ramsgate and Sandwich, CT12 5JB (nearest available postcode which is 500m north of the main car park))
With the onset of winter, thousands of wetland birds arrive in Pegwell Bay from the Arctic – eg. wigeon, pintail, brent goose, knot, sanderling, golden plover and bar-tailed godwit. Experience the impressive spectacle of them arriving to roost as the tide comes in. The saltmarshes and dunes attract hunting birds of prey, such as short-eared owls, hen harriers and merlins.
Places £3 pp. Need to book and pay in advance.
