In this heart-warming and now classic comedy, Shirley, a middle-aged mother of two grown- up children, feels trapped by her marriage. Her hope and self-confidence have both been shattered by school, marriage and life and she is reduced to talking to the kitchen wall. She dreams of drinking wine in a country where the grape is grown and longs for “the sea, the sea”. Out of the blue a feminist friend offers her a holiday in Greece. Shirley seizes the opportunity and breaks out of the mould cast for her by society. However, once in Greece, Shirley soon starts talking to a rock…..has she finally gone Loop the Loop?
Local actress Anette Mutton returns to the role after 6 years with two performances at The Theatre Royal. The performance on Friday 14th October is in aid of The East Kent Unit for Breast Screening.
