Sing As We Go
01 Jul 2017
A recreation of a typical ENSA concert.
The performers of ENSA worked and lived in as bad - and sometimes worse - conditions as their audiences. In the dark days of WW2, they brought much needed entertainment to both frontline and home- based troops as well as munitions workers. From the “Moonlight Becomes You” opening, right up to the stirring Patriotic Finale, you will be taken back in time with classic comedy sketches paying tribute to The Crazy Gang, Workers Playtime and the Ovalteenies, plus stars such as Gert and Daisy and Bud Flanagan.
Over 35 great songs of the period will be presented from “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square” to “The White Cliffs of Dover” and “As Time Goes By” and much more in between! Gordon Clarkson heads a talented cast: Stacy Young, Moira Pearn, Ian Douglas, Chris Porteous, Rocio Day, with live musical support from Paul Stewart. This is your chance to hear all your favourite songs again and enjoy the nostalgic comedy from stage, screen and radio…oh – and don’t forget your Gas Mask!
