Margate Museum tells the story of Margate and its people, through displays that range from archaeology to fine art reflecting Margate’s fascinating history as a seaside resort.
Current exhibitions of the history of HMS Thanet and the Battle of Margate 1387 (the English ‘liberated’ the French wine fleet and hence ‘Merrie England.’) The old Court House had the police cells below it which housed Sidney Fox who murdered his mother and went on to Maidstone for execution – read all about it!
Access very limited for wheelchair users. Toilet and parking facilities nearby.
