Memories from the Dream Factory

14 Oct 2017 - 04 Nov 2017

Open weekends during October (14th and 15th, 21st and 22nd, 28th and 29th) and Saturday 4th November.

A nostalgic look at Dreamland from the 1920’s through the ages.

The exhibition is a collection of original photographs, posters and printed literature of the amusement park over the years. Many of the items date from the 1920s and 1930s, through the war years, the infamous Mods and Rockers era and beyond. The oldest exhibits date from 1913, promoting the famous ‘Hall by the Sea’, Dreamland’s predecessor.

The collection is owned by Nick Evans, author of the book Dreamland Revived, which charts the park’s history. All of the photographs and literature formed part of Dreamland’s reference collection but were given to Nick’s late father, Bill Evans, who was the holding company’s press officer for much of the 1970s and early 1980s, ahead of the park being acquired by the Bembom Brothers in 1981.

The owner of the collection Nick Evans will also be on hand to sign copies of his book Dreamland Revived between 12noon and 2pm on Saturday 4th November
