Margate, Broadstairs, and Ramsgate offer a thriving and growing Micro Pub scene, each with its own individual style and atmosphere.

Far from the world of large breweries or corporate groups, these small businesses have gone back to the basics of the pub experience: a friendly, family-run, local watering hole, where you can try (and even take away) specialist ales and ciders. Some are no bigger than a living room, while others offer live music, beer gardens, or fantastic views!

Why not sample some of East Kent’s best local ales and ciders and enjoy what’s fast becoming Thanet’s new way to drink?

Did you know Thanet has the highest concentration of micro pubs, with more opening all the time. The first of the new 'Micro Pubs' - The Butcher's Arms - opened just along the coast at Herne Bay in 2005.

Ramsgate's very own brewery, Gadds', was established in 2002 and started selling fresh local ales in casks and bottles (some with a seaside-theme name) to local shops and pubs.

2018 saw the launch of the NorthDown Brewery in Margate, showcasing the transformation of fine Kentish hops into an irresistible array of ciders, perries, bitters and ales.

And if that’s not enough, Broadstairs’ spring and autumn Food Festivals offers 3-day celebrations of Thanet's finest meats, cheeses, pickles and breads - all washed down with Kent wines, ciders and ales.
