While June's Broadstairs Dickens Festival is a literary-led, costume character-filled, Victoriana-infused delight.
The sand-dusted Margate Masters volleyball tournament overflows with Britain's top players and have-a-go courts. In August, Ramsgate Week sees international sailors competing off the resort in a regatta to rival Cowes. Just a few weeks later Ramsgate's Summer Squall brings a feast of film, drama and dance to town.
