Year-round, it's well worth building a short break around some of the best Kent events. At Margate's cutting-edge Turner Contemporary look out for international exhibitions, talks, gallery tours and art workshops for children and adults.
Don't-miss annual events including Broadstairs Folk Week; seven days of top-quality acts performing all over town, now in its 50th year. The three-day Broadstairs Food Festival sees gourmets flock to the resort. While June's Broadstairs Dickens Festival is a literary-led, costume character-filled, Victoriana-infused delight.
The sand-dusted Margate Masters volleyball tournament overflows with Britain's top players and have-a-go courts. In July, Ramsgate Week sees international sailors competing off the resort in a regatta to rival Cowes. Just a few weeks later Ramsgate's Summer Squall brings a feast of film, drama and dance to town.
August brings an explosion of colour and sound, as Margate’s vibrant, annual carnival procession snakes through the town over Margate Soul Weekend.

2015 marks the 75th anniversary of Operation Dynamo when hundreds of ‘little ships’ set out from Ramsgate Royal Harbour to rescue troops from the beaches of Dunkirk, whilst in Broadstairs in June the town marks the 200th anniversary of the end of the Battle of Waterloo, with a ‘New Waterloo Dispatch’ passing through the town on the way to London
