Thanet Photographers Collective

Open daily 11am to 5pm

Thanet Photographers are a local Facebook group with around 1500 members, headed by local photographer and mentor Frank Leppard.

The group started to enable people to post their beautiful pictures of our marvellous coastline, landmarks and events including Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and all the surrounding villages. Every Friday our Cover Picture is the most liked picture posted that week. This helps showcase the many skills of our variety of local photographers.

Our Photographers love chasing rainbows, storms and lightning, reflections, skylines, sunrises and sunsets, local landmarks, wildlife, freak weather events and everything in between.

To celebrate Turner Prize 2019 , Thanet Photographers have decided to showcase their art in printed format because in these times of digital photography, not many photos get printed, and we like to show the impact that a beautiful printed picture can create.

We set up our 'Collective', between 15 and 20 of our Photographers, to exhibit and display a wide range of pictures, based in a mini-shop upstairs at the Old Kent Market, opposite Turner Contemporary.

We are displaying framed and unframed pictures and canvases, from postcard size to large frames.

The Old Kent Market building is a former cinema, as quirky as you can get. On the ground floor a number of world foods and drinks outlets including vegan and gluten free, micro pubs and a great bakery. Upstairs, a number of small units made to look like miniature shops, selling curiosities, a barber, tshirts and several resident artists.

Thanet Photographers Collective are very pleased to be a very small part of this wonderful event.
