With the current heatwave bringing high temperatures to our district, we want to welcome everyone to the Isle of Thanet's 16 beautiful beaches and bays
We want to ensure your visit is as safe as it is enjoyable, especially as the combination of extreme heat, busy beaches and coastal waters presents unique safety challenges.
So before you pack your bags and head off, please check our guide to beach safety to ensure a safe, enjoyable visit.

Be Water Wise
RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) Lifeguards patrol our beaches and bays throughout the summer season. Please remember to stay safe following their beach safety advice, whether swimming in the sea or just having a day at the coast. Remember to check the tides as you can get cut off at some beaches and bays.
Respect the Water is a campaign run by the RNLI, providing information on understanding waves, tides and swimming safely in the sea. To find out more visit the RNLI website
