The 32-mile (51.4km) Viking Coastal Trail shadows a stunning shore, leading cyclists and walkers to Blue Flag beaches and spectacular cliffs, inland villages and rural lanes. 

Public footpaths sweep beside expansive marshland and atop sky-high cliffs. The 4-mile (6.4km) Turner and Dickens Walk explores the links between the great painter and famous novelist.  Ramsgate's Pugin Town Trail showcases the acclaimed architect's buildings. St Peter's Village Tours and Ramsgate Costumed Walks offer historical, character-led strolls.

The Isle excels at adrenaline-fuelled adventure. Take lessons with Joss Bay Surf School, Kent Surf School, Minnis Bay Windsurfing Club - as well as the Broadstairs Sailing Club, Margate Yacht Club and Minnis Bay Sailing Club. Ramsgate's Royal Temple Yacht Club offers a full range of facilities.

For those into skateboarding and climbing, the perfect place has to be Revolution Skate Park

Serious golfers love Thanet's 18-hole, cliff-top and links courses: Westgate and Birchington Golf Club; Ramsgate's St. Augustine's Golf ClubNorth Foreland Golf Club at Broadstairs. The Manston Golf Centre has driving ranges and a 9-hole course. Strokes Adventure GolfLillyputt Mini Golf, Quex Adventure Golf and Rascal Bay deliver hours of fun.

Jungle Jims, an indoor, soft play area on the Quex Park Estate, Bumble Beez,a children's play centre in Ramsgate, while Margate boasts a Norse invader-themed Viking Playground, beach sports court and Club World.

Hartsdown Leisure Centre has a swimming pool, fitness studio and sports courts whilst  Ramsgate's Sport Centre offers exercise equipment, swimming pool and day spa. There are many parks and open spaces to explore, all over the Isle
