Margate welcomes the indie folk trio, now on tour with their 3rd album...
Doors 7pm
Taking their name from Lord Sebastian Flyte – the tragic love interest in Evelyn’s Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited – the indie folk trio Flyte write tales of love and loss. They debuted their vivid songwriting with The Loved Ones (2017), and followed it with the striking vocal harmonies of 2021’s This Is Really Going To Hurt. The latter album, a break-up record at its core, was labelled by Clash as “the finest example yet of Flyte’s undoubted artistry.”
Flyte is the project of English songwriters Will Taylor and Nick Hill. The pair met at secondary school, eventually settling in Hackney in London. Taylor’s parents were both English teachers and inevitably, various literary influences trickled into the duo’s music.
After the release of two critically acclaimed albums, they have established themselves as an influential mainstay.
After extensive touring of Europe and North America, Flyte have teamed back up with Andrew Sarlo, this time at London’s famous Konk Studios, to record their most confident and collaborative work to date. The latest self-titled album, inspired by Taylor’s relationship with partner and artist Billie Marten, explores love in all its early forms and features artists such as Laura Marling, Bombay Bicycle Club and M Field.
Catch them on this last stop before they complete their tour in mainland Europe...
