Ramsgate - Royal harbour and Regency Architecture

The historic waterfront of Ramsgate has a lively cosmopolitan feel. Select an alfresco café, sip a drink and see the yachts bobbing in the picturesque marina - this Cinque Port limb is the only ‘Royal Harbour’ in the country. 2021 marks 200 years since this title was bestowed by King George IV for the friendly welcome he received, something still enjoyed by visitors today. Enjoy sandy bays alongside a working marina.

Ramsgate’s exquisite architecture brings together the Italianate Glasshouse, Georgian terraces and regency villas. Plus buildings designed by pioneering Victorian architect Augustus Pugin – discover more at the visitor centre before seeing his creations on a self-guided walking tour.

Don a hard hat and join an underground tour of the WWII-era Ramsgate Tunnels or delve into the history of computers at The Micro Museum.  At Ramsgate Maritime Museum discover the unique Ramsgate Meridian, discover connections to 'The Titanic' and the areas rich maritime heritage. For something a bit different head to the Museum of Everything Else featuring experimental and obsolete items

Be drawn by Ramsgate’s links to the first Saxons, Hengist and Horsa, artist Vincent Van Gogh, authors Wilkie Collins and Jane Austen, to name a few
