Free community event and Green Careers Fair exploring Green jobs, the town’s planned Green Campus and what a Greener future could mean.
10am - 4pm
What could Ramsgate's Green future look like – and what opportunities could it create for local people?
The Future is Green is a free community event and Green Careers Fair, bringing together local organisations, employers, young people and the wider community to explore the opportunities emerging from Thanet's Green and Marine economy.
The day follows September's Green Energy, Marine & Coastal Innovation Forum at the Port of Ramsgate and brings that conversation back into the community.
Drop into Ramsgate Space to explore some of the big questions and opportunities for Ramsgate.
Explore the Green Campus
Find out more about the planned Green Campus at the Port of Ramsgate, see the plans and share your views about its development.
Hear what came out of the Green Energy, Marine & Coastal Innovation Forum: explore some of the ideas and opportunities discussed by businesses, educators, investors and organisations working across the Green and marine economy.
12pm – Lightning Talk: Green jobs & skills
A short conversation about the jobs and skills emerging from the green economy and how local people can access the opportunities.
1pm – Lightning Talk: Energy security & community energy
What could the energy transition mean locally, and what role could communities play?
2 – 4pm – Help us to create a Ramsgate Green Loop
Get around the map for a participatory design session exploring how Ramsgate's green spaces, walking and cycling routes, community activity, businesses and environmental projects could be better connected.
Bring your local knowledge, add ideas to the map and help us explore what a Ramsgate Green Loop could become.
The wider Green Careers Fair offers hands-on activities for ages 8+, opportunities to meet locally based employers and organisations working in sustainability, and a chance to discover the range of jobs involved in the Green Economy.
Young people can also find out about paid and unpaid work placements and other opportunities to gain experience in the sector.
Whether you're interested in Ramsgate's future, curious about green energy, looking at career options or simply want to find out what's happening locally, come along, have a look around and get involved.
