Join Kristina Rahim as we celebrate her brilliant new middle grade ‘The Doughnut Club’ published by Nosy Crow at the Happy Reading Bookshop at Staple in St Peters
1pm - 2pm
For ages 9+
12-year-old Quinn loves her family, but she often feels the odd one out. Not only because she’s the only one with red hair and green eyes, but because she would rather be quietly drawing than surfing or rock-climbing, or whatever mad activity her mums and brother Olly might like to do on holiday. Quinn has always known she is donor conceived. She’s never been that interested in knowing about their donor. But when Quinn’s mums tell her and Olly that they have sixteen donor siblings, Quinn’s mind is blown! Maybe one of them will be more like her! The only problem is her parents want them to wait until they are older to contact anyone. As Quinn tries to secretly find out more, she starts to lose sight of what is really important – especially when she starts to believe her worst enemy – the dreaded Monika – could be one of her siblings! Can she find a way back to her family, whilst finding a way to tell them how she really feels?
This is a super enjoyable Summer read perfect for fans of Sarah Hagger-Holt and Benjamin Dean, THE DOUGHNUT CLUB is a fresh take on family and what it means to fit in. Quinn is a character that every reader will be able to relate to as she navigates this coming-of-age story where she has to find her voice and way to be true to herself
