A celebration of small traders and businesses in Thanet in support of East Kent Mind
10am - 5pm
Following the success of last year’s event, Westwood Cross Shopping Centre has once again teamed up with East Kent Mind to shine a spotlight on Thanet’s fantastic independent traders.
From handmade gifts and delicious treats to creative crafts and family fun, expect a vibrant day full of discovery – and all for a great cause.
As before, the event takes place in the Primark Car Park, with all trader pitch fees going directly to support the important work of East Kent Mind. Plus, Academy FM will be playing feel-good tunes.

The stalls are an eclectic mix of pet-friendly products, beauty buys and board games, not to mention the amazing food: fudge, cakes, jams and chutneys. Back by popular demand, there's also a face painting stand, sand art activity, hook a duck as well as seashell craft.
Whether you’re picking up unique finds, stopping for a chat on our Mall Talk benches, or just soaking up the atmosphere – you won’t want to miss this celebration of local talent.
First launched in 2024, Westwood Cross Independents Day showcases the creativity and quality of local businesses across Thanet, while bringing the community together to encourage positive mindsets and wellbeing. Trader pitch fees are donated to East Kent Mind to help fund vital wellbeing activities and mental health support services across the district.
In 2025, around 50 independent businesses took part, offering a fantastic mix of arts and crafts, artisan food, handmade gifts and more. In total, the event raised over £1,430 for the charity.
Independents Day forms part of Westwood Cross’s ongoing support for East Kent Mind. The centre actively encourages guests to take part in kind and meaningful conversations, helping to foster a strong sense of community and belonging across Thanet.
