Monkton & Minster VE Day 80th Anniversary Week (5th - 10th)

Mark the occasion at Minster & Monkton Royal British Legion Social Club

There's a great week of celebrations planned for the 80th anniversary of V.E. Day:

Monday 5th May from 2pm - Afternoon Tea: live music and war time songs with entertainer Tara James, from 2pm.

Afternoon tea with free glass of fizz!

Thursday 8th May from 2.45pm - Village Flagpole: A short ceremony to include Churchill's speeches, the reading of a Royal Proclamation from King Charles III, and the Last Post - timed to coincide with Churchill's famous 'The Guns Will Fall Silent' speech of 1945.

The Bell Inn, Minster, from 7.30pm: The first 80 customers will receive a free Hot Dog or Burger (thanks to Keith & Debbie from The Racing Greyhound)

Church Lychgate 9.15pm: short ceremony, followed by the lightong of the Village Beacon on top of the Church Tower

Saturday 10th May - Cockney Party with The Spice Chavs: get your flat caps on, dress in your best union flag outfit and come & have some Pie & Mash from Bellas Kitchen, Minster
