Burns Night with Iain Richardson and Pat Ballantyne plus Hamish and James at Rosslyn Court in Cliftonville, Margate!
Door time: 7pm
Start time: 7.30pm
An evening of traditional Robert Burns and other Scottish songs sung by people who know the songs best...even though Pat and Iain have de camped to Holland!
This is always a great, inclusive evening with traditional and veggie haggis 'n' stuff.
Iain Richardson and Pat Ballantyne present an evening of song in celebration of Scotland’s song tradition and national poet Robert Burns. Singer and piper Iain grew up in the Scottish Borders and is known for his rich, expressive voice and his wide repertoire of old and new Scots songs. Hailing from Caithness in the far North, dancer and piano player Pat is as much at home playing driving Scottish dance rhythms as accompanying sensitive ballads.
For this event, Pat and Iain will focus on the songs of Robert Burns, as well as old and new Scottish songs and tunes, telling the stories behind the songs and drawing you into the rich traditions of Scotland. All the great themes of folk song are there – love, loss, war, loyal shoemakers, lazy spouses, heartless lovers and the pursuit of wine. Unless you bring a note from your doctor or your Mum, you’ll be expected to join in the choruses and tap your feet to the dance rhythms.
