A very special half term event with Bua P. Nateejaruraat celebrating her beautiful debut picture book... a heart-warming story with AR animation at Staple in St Peters
1pm - 1.45pm
Perfect for children aged 3+, this gentle and heartfelt event will include a shared storytime with Bua herself, alongside creative activities and conversation inspired by the book’s themes of comfort, identity, memory and growing confidence. Expect warmth, imagination and thoughtful bookshop fun together.
My Pink Scarf is a tender and visually stunning story about a young girl learning to navigate love, loss and self-discovery. Her pink scarf is more than just something she wears - it represents warmth, comfort and treasured memories. But when it disappears, she begins to wonder who she is without it.
Through small moments of joy and connection, she slowly discovers that the things we love remain part of us, even when they are no longer physically there. Gentle, emotionally resonant and full of hope, this is a picture book that opens up meaningful conversations with children in a beautifully accessible way.
Bua is a Thai author-illustrator and animator based in Canterbury, whose work includes productions such as LEGO Friends, Get Rolling with Otis, Bonnie Bear: Time Twisted and Nezha 2. My Pink Scarf was commended by the FAB Prize, awarded by Faber and Faber and BookTrust, and reflects her passion for emotional storytelling through gentle visuals and everyday moments.
A lovely holiday event for young children and families who enjoy thoughtful stories, beautiful artwork and meeting the creators behind new picture books.
And every child takes home their own copy of My PInk Scarf to treasure!
During the session, the responsible adult(s) are very welcome to enjoy their favourite coffee and pastry downstairs at STAPLE or come and hang out upstairs in the bookshop!!
Children will sit for the reading, then move to a play/craft table for activities. All materials are provided and age-appropriate.
