This is a photo exhibition curated by Ana Sánchez and Xavier Domènech showcasing the architecture and the network of 1.322 underground air-raid shelters in Barcelona, intensively bombed during the Spanish Civil War by the Italian and the German air forces, allied with Franco’s command. 85% of this civic, historical and architectural heritage was built by local communities, especially in working-class neighbourhoods.
