Georgina Dooley - "Born in Margate and raised on a council estate by a single mother, I grew up surrounded by both challenge and creativity. My early life, shaped by resilience and resourcefulness, taught me to see beauty in unexpected places. Having faced struggles with physical and mental health, addiction, and chronic pain, creativity has been both my refuge and release. Art became my language — a way to process, express, and transcend. It has saved me in ways that medicine could not — offering freedom and purpose when life felt constricting. My work explores colour, reflection, and the human form — how angles, sparkle, and emotion intertwine. Each piece becomes a dialogue between fragility and strength, light and shadow, chaos and calm. Through my art, I hope to connect with others who have walked through struggle — to show that beauty can emerge from pain, and that creativity, in all its colour and imperfection, can be a form of healing."
Ash - "I’m a Margate-based artist working in mixed media and oils, with a background in fine art. For this show, I’ve created a body of work centred on seagulls. While these familiar birds often provoke irritation, disdain or laughter, in my work they represent misunderstood “monsters”, challenging assumptions about menace, value, and empathy. Through material layering and suggestion, I aim to blend character and ambiguity, allowing narrative to surface without being fixed. I’m particularly interested in the tension created when something can be both seen and intuited — recognisable, but never entirely pinned down."
Tamara Rattigan (TAMARA PHOENIX / TATTY) - "I’m a multidisciplinary artist from Margate. My practice is shaped by my Irish Pavee heritage and my experiences of navigating barriers within the art world. My style fuses pop art, graffiti, urban street aesthetics, and visual communication — resulting in work that is vibrant, immediate, and unapologetically bold. I love printmaking, especially screen printing, where bold layers, textures, and imperfections give an image its raw energy. I’m passionate about Margate’s local history, particularly the rich heritage of Dreamland, which often features in my work."
