A solo presentation by Aimée Parrott at Well Projects in Margate
Open Friday – Saturday, 11am–5pm and by appointment
Opening night: Saturday 26th July 4pm – 7pm
For her first exhibition with the gallery, Parrott will present a series of works that come from tangential exploration in the studio.
"Though I am primarily a painter, in the studio I frequently find I am suppressing the impulse to experiment with a wider range of materials and references. On finishing a body of work I often attempt to learn a new skill or craft in order to disrupt well established routes and patterns within my practice. Elements of these processes; quilting, applique, book binding – to name a few examples – have slowly filtered into and fed my paintings over the years.
More recently with a studio based at home and a practice frequently interrupted by my caregiving responsibilities, my attention has turned to creating objects that make reference to domesticity, care, and functionality as the boundaries between life and work wear thin and often collapse. This exhibition will focus on pieces that hover between painting, sculpture, installation and textile."
