This event aims to celebrate diversity and broader East and south east Asian culture through art, food, and music, creating a festive experience that brings the community together.
Saturday 21st February
2pm - 4pm Kids craft workshop at People Dem Collective, 8-12 Harold Road, Cliftonville, Margate CT9 2HT... A workshop designed for kids to create colourful Asian-style paper lanterns. Each finished lantern will be proudly displayed at Thao Thao. Led by Carson Parkin Fairley and Nathalie Nguyen. Free/drop-in / Suitable for all ages
8pm - 1am Lunar New Year Party at Where Else?, 21-22 The Centre, Margate CT9 1JG ... A night celebrating East & South East Asian culture through shared food, art, and music (DJ sets), grounded in community, joy, and movement. 12 noon - 1pm / 1.15pm - 2pm Tai Chi & Meditation at Margate Yoga Studio, 160 Northdown Road, Margate CT9 2QU... Welcome the Lunar New Year with a gentle session of Tai Chi or meditation. An opportunity to slow down, ground yourself, and do something kind for both mind and body. Led by John Wilson and Margate Yoga Studio. Wednesday 25th February
11.30am - 1.30pm Art exhibition at Turner Contemporary, Rendezvous, Margate CT9 1HG... Meet Dutch-Japanese painter Asa Ariyoshi-Pope and explore her work inspired by Japanese homes and tea houses - intimate, enclosed spaces filled with tension and restraint. Her oversized, weighty figures challenge traditional expectations of women in Asian cultures. Free

A relaxed, welcoming life drawing session that celebrates diversity and explores identity, featuring a Southeast Asian model dressed in a traditional Vietnamese 'áo dài'.
