A surrealist space opera that plays like an episode of Severance if scripted by Samuel Beckett, Danish novelist Olga Ravn's innovative novel The Employees takes the shape of a series of statements from the crew of the Six-Thousand Ship. Human and humanoid workers alike have entered altered states since bringing aboard a collection of strange objects from an alien planet.

They begin to feel possessed by a new longing for Earth, and by a simmering desire to rebel, which Ravn and translator Martin Aitken fold into a philosophical look at capitalism, pleasure and the uncertainties of the future.

The Bookclub is open to all and there’s no requirement to read every book and turn up to every meeting, come whenever you fancy!
