An event series of live electronic music performances, exploring the space between club and experimental at Margate Arts Club!
8pm - 12 midnight
Margate Electronics winter edition focuses on modular synthesis, with three distinct artists each taking a different approach to live modular performance. The line-up features live sets from Loula Yorke, Microcorps (Alexander Tucker) and M2C (Raven Bush). Also, ALM/Busy Circuits will demo and present their latest modular products.
Loula Yorke is a UK-based composer, sound artist and modular synthesist creating minimal, voltage-driven works that shimmer between playfulness and solemnity. An award-winning performer and educator, she has released acclaimed albums on Truxalis and Castles in Space, with broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and 6 Music, and performances from Café Oto to Tabakalera.
Microcorps is the project of artist and musician Alex Tucker, merging modular electronics, cello, bass and voice into dense, shifting sound worlds. His work explores the hybrid of human and machine through layered drones and rhythms, with collaborations spanning Regis, Justin K Broadrick, Nik Colk Void, Phew and others.
M2Coast (M2C) is the latest project from composer and Raven Bush of Speakers Corner Quartet. Combining strings, modular synthesis and field recording, M2C navigates the friction between acoustic and electronic intonation, an evolving, meditative study of environment and process.
