Launch of brand-new community event at Margate's Old Kent Market

Created by Gentlemen’s Bits of Margate, the event celebrates local creativity, men’s health, and the Margate spirit with a day of music, prizes, and good-natured competition — all in the heart of one of Margate’s most eclectic venues.
The Old Kent Market is set to get a little hairier this Spring, as Gentlemen’s Bits, the Market’s resident male-grooming products shop, celebrates the art of facial hair, the character of Margate’s creative community, and fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK — all rolled into one lively afternoon by the sea.
The Mr. Margate Competition will bring together locals, visitors, and traders for a day of friendly competition, music, prizes, and fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK. Contestants will battle for titles like Best Beard, Best Moustache, Most Creative Facial Hair, and the coveted crown of Mr. Mo Margate 2026.
Families are also invited to join in, with a special Best Kids’ Facial Hair category encouraging children to get crafty and show off their own facial-hair creations.
With the Market providing the perfect backdrop, the FREE event promises to capture Margate’s trademark blend of tradition and quirk...There will be music, local food and drink, independent traders, prizes, and entertainment!

All proceeds go to Prostate Cancer UK, supporting men’s health.
