A new series of shows highlighting upcoming talent at Where Else? in Margate
Doors open 7pm
WhereElse presents a new series of shows where they collectively gaze into the crystal ball and declare their ardent, undying support for the brave new world of underground music, which is in a constant state of flux and reinvention. This is where new music and a small coastal town like Margate collide: this is New In Town.
big long sun are the many splendoured 8 headed, 32 limbed songwriting organism spearheaded by midlands-born, Brighton-based poet, painter, filmmaker, baker, musician Jamie Broughton (rhymes with ‘thought’-un) - who writes and records everything at his home ‘Boudoir’ studios - the band have released two acclaimed albums and in an EP in little over 12 months. FFO: Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire and MGMT.
In the time since their 2021 formation, foot foot have established themselves as one of the leading acts of Bristol’s underground, drawing on the traditions of folk, math-rock, & discordant post-rock to produce their intricate brand of songcraft, creating moments of serenity & stillness before launching into fast, jagged rhythms. Their use of contrasts -indie-flecked songwriting with irregular, winding passages, or rich violin & vocal melodies with avante--jazz freakouts - have marked them out as one of the scene's most innovative & impactful live acts. FFO: Deerhoof, The Incredible String Band covering Black Midi
Fruit Band is an imaginary band that inhabits Jim Ping's head. He hopes that they'll be a real band one day but for now, Jim performs with the energy of a 32 piece orchestra, casting it's spell by channeling everything from hardcore to rap to EDM and lo-fi indie; enter the matrix of Fruit Band's universe feeling slightly confused by the lack of band, leave feeling like it all makes sense and maybe he didn't need one. FFO Cindy Lee, Deathgrips and Crack Cloud.
