The Shell Grotto

Join artist Dawn Cole this half term and make your own winkle bag at the Shell Grotto in Margate!

10am - 12pm

Roll up, roll up! Once a popular snack in working-class areas of London, street-food sellers would serve winkles, whelks and jellied eels from paper bags, which clever sellers began to print with eye-catching designs and advertising.

This Feb Half Term, artist Dawn Cole and her vintage Adana printing press are setting up stall in the little museum, so you can print your very own custom Shell Grotto-inspired winkle bag!
