Children's workshop exploring the sensory world of jelly to create their own imaginary landscape and world ...
Choice of two sessions:
1pm - 2pm; 2.30pm - 3.30pm
This is one of two creative workshops for children aged 5-11 where they can make and play inspired by texture, colour and their own imaginations.
The other workshop is Skin I'm In and requires separate booking...
Jelly Lands
What if everything were a little more colourful, a little more wibbly, a little more wobbly?
Then you would be in Jelly Land!
Children are invited to an imaginative workshop, where they are invited to create Jelly Land in Ramsgate. They can do this by completing a series of tasks to collect stamps in their Jelly Land passport. Meg will be their Jelly Land guide as they write Jelly History, make a Jelly Ceremony, and fill the map with buildings made of… you guessed it, Jelly!
Giving jelly the appreciation it deserves as a wonderful sensory material.
All children will need a Google form filled out for them before arriving at the workshop. It will ask about access, medical needs, and whether their guardian is staying to supervise them. The link for the form will be sent after the workshop booking is confirmed.
Any questions / discussing a child’s access needs, email Megan on: weareswimminghome@gmail.com
Megan Garrett-Jones is an actor and poet who loves making art and theatre with children and young people. She’s a facilitator with the Marlowe Youth Company, an artist with early-years creative play project Playground, and has made workshops for the Turner Gallery, The Gulbenkian, and festivals and venues further afield. Meg is currently a bit obsessed with goats, and is currently working on a new puppet show, GOAT, opening at Playground Festival this May.
This workshop is supported by Looping the Loop, Thanet’s leading community theatre organisation and home to Thanet Youth Theatre.
Safeguarding, accessibility and supervision information:
Adults can choose to leave a child at the workshop, or stay at the venue and support their involvement.
