Discover the nearly-lost art of seaweed-pressing in this relaxing and creative workshop...
3pm - 5pm
Gemila Boss (The Driftweed Artist), is a resident Broadstairs artist, and loves to forage for the shells and fossils that wash up on Thanet’s beaches.
These are then beautifully curated and displayed, ready to adorn the walls of coastal art admirers. Gemila’s main muse, however, is seaweed.
For Ramsgate Through the Senses, Gemila has designed a unique workshop giving participants the opportunity to learn the almost forgotten Victorian art of Seaweed Pressing. This relaxing, creative workshop will introduce the fascinating world of Thanet's Seaweeds and show how to press them to create unusual and beautiful pieces of natural artwork, to take home and frame.
All materials provided by The Driftweed Artist, as well as teas and coffees.
For those with mobility issues, this class may take place upstairs at Gather & - please contact the Festival for more info.
