Ramsgate Through the Senses: Skin I'm In (Childrens' Workshop)

25th April 2026

Children's workshop exploring the sensory world of touch to create their own puppet...

10am - 11.30am

This is one of two creative workshops for children aged 5-11 where they can make and play inspired by texture, colour and their own imaginations.

The other workshop is Jelly Land and requires separate booking...

Skin I’m In
Spikey, leathery, fluffy or feathery - are you ready to be inspired by the amazing range of textures found in the animal kingdom?
At the start of the session, children can explore sensory boxes and join activities exploring texture... how something feels when you touch it. This will inspire the creation of the child's own creature puppet in the second half. They might make a furry friend, a mythical monster or a fashion icon to show off on the puppet stage and take home later.

Feel free to bring a snazzy sock for the puppet if one's lost its pair.

All children will need a Google form filled out for them before arriving at the workshop. It will ask about access, medical needs, and whether their guardian is staying to supervise them. The link for the form will be sent after the workshop booking is confirmed.

Any questions / discussing a child’s access needs, email Megan on: weareswimminghome@gmail.com

Megan Garrett-Jones is an actor and poet who loves making art and theatre with children and young people. She’s a facilitator with the Marlowe Youth Company, an artist with early-years creative play project Playground, and has made workshops for the Turner Gallery, The Gulbenkian, and festivals and venues further afield. Meg is currently a bit obsessed with goats, and is currently working on a new puppet show, GOAT, opening at Playground Festival this May.

This workshop is supported by Looping the Loop, Thanet’s leading community theatre organisation and home to Thanet Youth Theatre.

Safeguarding, accessibility and supervision information:
Adults can choose to leave a child at the workshop, or stay at the venue and support their involvement.

The organisers recommended that children aged 5 - 6 have an adult handy to support them.

Ramsgate Through the Senses celebrates its fifth year, and is thrilled to offer an array of activities and experiences, designed by brilliant chefs, artists, and practitioners - guaranteed to activate the senses and inspire the soul!

"A feast of a festival celebrating Kent through the senses. Come and enjoy delicious cuisine, inspiring walks, holistic therapies and much more!"

There will be a programme of events that tap into the 5 senses to inspire the mind, body and spirit.

The weekend will feature delicious and immersive wild food experiences, bespoke tours, workshops and rejuvenating therapies.
