Also on Sunday 26th
Annie Nichols’ sensory and immersive installation takes its inspiration from an 1886 menu of the historically opulent, Granville Hotel, alongside a history of and an altar to the pineapple!
In this rare opportunity, you will be lead through secret tunnels that run behind a house on Granville Marina, which it is said, once linked to the Granville Hotel above, giving exclusive access for its guests down to the seafront and sands.
In this sensory experience, you will be transported back to the late 1800s to imagine the sounds and echoes of the working hotel kitchen, that guests may have heard as then stepped through the tunnels to the sea.
Annie Nichols - Originally working as a chef, food stylist and cookery writer, Annie’s art practice is deeply informed by food history and the traditions of table service etiquette, exploring themes of religious iconography, privilege, desire, value, and decay.
Clementine Blue - a mixed media artist who explores the relationship between nature and humans. She has created a bespoke audio work for Tears of a Crown which will be heard in the tunnels.
As the tunnels are narrow we have timed visits limited to 10 people per hour. Please be prompt!
Visitors will receive a limited edition artwork during their visit.
The tunnels are uneven underfoot and the walls are chalk, so please wear appropriate footwear & clothing that is warm and that you don't mind getting chalky.
As well as the uneven floor, there are several steps, so this is not accessible to those with wheelchairs.
