Lighting up the town, bringing a magical mix of light, art, music and community celebration across the town and harbour
The festival marks the start of two major highlights of the season... the Ramsgate Harbour Illuminations and the Light Up Ramsgate Trail, alongside a full calendar of festive activities for all ages.
Ramsgate Harbour Illuminations
A much-loved festive favourite returns, shining brightest by mid-December. Last year saw 76 boats join the illuminated spectacle, creating a dazzling display across the Royal Harbour and raising funds for Ramsgate RNLI.
This year, the waterfront will be brighter than ever, featuring new colour-changing festoon lights along the Military Road arches and a beautifully lit Obelisk, adding even more sparkle to Ramsgate's iconic seafront.
Weekend of Wonder (WOW!) 11th - 13th December
Ramsgate will light up in spectacular style as Light Up Ramsgate launches with extra-special projections and installations around the harbour and town. This exciting weekend event also marks the beginning of the six-week Light & Art Trail, bringing festive creativity and colour to the town through to 25th January.
Light Up Ramsgate Trail 11th December to 25th January
Explore a series of community art pieces and commissioned light installations illuminating Ramsgate throughout the winter months. The trail showcases local talent and imagination, transforming the town into a glowing celebration of art and light.
Late Night Shopping Thursday 11th December
Enjoy magical projections, a Christmas market and a lively pop-up parade as you browse the town's independent shops. Shoppers will also have the chance to win a £50 voucher to spend at participating retailers.
Ramsgate Christmas Tree Festival 12th - 21st December
Held at St George's Church, the festival invites visitors to admire a forest of beautifully decorated trees and vote for their favourite. Open every afternoon, it's a festive highlight for residents and visitors alike.
New Year's Eve Lantern Parade Tuesday 31st December 4.45pm - 5.30pm
Round off the year with a heart-warming community celebration. This year's theme, 'Peace, Love and Joy to the World', will see Ramsgate Giants, local artists and community groups take part in a glowing parade of lanterns. The procession will set off from St George's Church, making its way down to the harbour side, and finish at Ramsgate Tunnels with hot chocolate and seasonal treats for all.
