An evening that should sit comfortably in the memory for a while after at Margate's Faith In Strangers
10pm - 2am ('Feast of the Gods' dinner service from 6pm, from £50)
The Official LOW Margate After Party - Romare has spent the better part of a decade building one of the more distinctive bodies of work in contemporary electronic music - records that reach deep into Black American musical history, pulling soul, blues, jazz and rhythm into something that feels both deeply considered and instinctively physical.
His productions carry weight. They breathe. And when that sensibility moves from the studio into a DJ set, something shifts in the best possible way.
A Romare DJ set is not simply a case of an artist playing their own records. It is a window into the musical thinking that shapes everything he makes: the connections between eras and genres, the moments where a particular groove locks in and the room starts to move as one. There is craft in that, and genuine enthusiasm for the music rather than just the performance of it.
Faith In Strangers suits the occasion well. The venue has form for getting the balance right between intimacy and proper dancefloor energy.
