Join STAK.life and unleash your inner creative with their Stick Around collage workshop at The Grain Grocer in Cliftonville, Margate
1pm - 3pm
It will be creative and casual and you can make whatever you like. It’s all about enjoying the process.
The workshop will be for neurodivergent young people and anyone they want to bring along with them.
They’ll provide materials – including paper, magazines, glue, and scissors – and you just bring yourselves. If there are any materials you would particularly like to collage with, please do bring them with you too.
This will be a safe and calm space in the cafe area of The Grain Grocer, where everyone will be free to get creative, express emotions through making art, and enjoy the meditative process of collage-making.
This workshop is for all levels of ability. Collage is an accessible art form open to everyone. If you’ve never made a collage before, that’s ok – now is your time!
Everyone who comes to The Grain Grocer will be able to explore the Stick Around group collage exhibition currently showing in the cafe, in collaboration with Salon Margate.
Stick Around brings together 20 Thanet-based artists working with collage, to explore the ways the art form can provide vital relief from the pain of mental health challenges.
Slicing, tearing, arranging and rearranging materials can be a therapeutic, meditative, and healing process. Collage provides easy access to creative practice for everyone. It often makes use of found or low cost materials.
Cutting out images, shapes, words and colours can help us stop cutting into ourselves, mentally and physically. It can help quiet the mind, and keep our fingers busy. It can provide an outlet for our emotions, and calm us down. It can help us process and shift our perspective. It can provide hope.
