A comedy about identity and coming to terms with who you are at ARK, Cliftonville's Cultural Space
2pm - 3.45pm
Directed by Josh Appignanesi, written by David Baddiel and starring Omid Djalili, this 2010 film introduces us to Mahmud Nasir, London taxi driver, loving husband, doting father and something of a 'relaxed' Muslim.
He may not be the most observant, but in his heart he is as Muslim as it gets. But after his mother's death a discovery turns Mahmud's world upside down. He finds his birth certificate which reveals that not only was he adopted at birth but he's Jewish, and his real name is Solly Shimshillewitz!
This event is part of L'Chaim!, a series of events celebrating the heritage of the ARK building. Jewish Culture Month (16 May - 16 June) is a new national festival celebrating Jewish life in the UK.
