Do you have a keen eye or a love of long dogs? If the answer is yes to one or both, then this drawing class will be paw-fect for you at Gather& in Ramsgate
7pm - 9pm
Celebrate all things sighthound by drawing gorgeous greyhounds, luscious lurchers and wonderful whippets at a relaxing and friendly creative class in Ramsgate. With their elegant forms, these painterly pups have been inspiring artists for centuries, and now it’s your turn to have a go!
The class will begin with an introduction and drawing demo by artist Jennie Webber. Then you will set your sights on the speedy, and very stroke-able supermodels- all rescued and happily rehomed by the team at Kent Greyhound Rescue. Thanks to this fantastic charity, each of our doggy models is now enjoying life at a slower pace, and being given the care and affection they deserve. Some are in their forever homes, others are currently staying with fabulous fosterers while they wait to be adopted. Each of the dogs we will meet is confident and happy to be out and about, and they all love a bit of attention. They will come along with their humans, and we will also be joined by Amanda who works at the charity, who will talk about the realities of greyhound racing and the fascinating history of this beautiful breed.
No prior art experience is needed to join the session- whether you’re a dab hand or an absolute beginner they are confident that with a few of Jennie’s simple tips and tricks, she will have you sketching away in no time. At the classes they use drawing as a tool to learn more about animals and conservation- there’s no pressure to create a “perfect” portrait!
They will provide a range of art materials, paper and drawing boards for you to use, so no need to bring anything along, but if you have some trusty favourites that you enjoy using you’re very welcome to bring them.
Wild Life Drawing are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. They only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy around humans. The falconer who is bringing along the owls is an expert in their care, and regularly works alongside the RSPCA to rescue and rehabilitate wild raptors.
£10 from each ticket will be donated to Kent Greyhound Rescue.
