Turner is an internationally-renowned Gallery showing contemporary and historical art.

In a striking building designed by award-winning architect Sir David Chipperfield, Turner presents a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions, events and learning opportunities.

With stunning views over Margate Sands and free entry to all exhibitions, Turner makes great art accessible to all. Visit today to be inspired.

Since opening, the Gallery has exhibited the work of countless international artists, including Turner Prize nominees and winners Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Jeremy Deller, Grayson Perry, Yinka Shonibare, and Paula Rego.

A shop and outdoor terrace are available for visitors to enjoy during Gallery opening hours. The gallery is also available for venue hire.

Cafe 'Louie-on-Sea' open Tuesday– Sunday, 10am-5pm plus bank holidays serving brunch, lunches, cakes and cocktails using seasonal and locally sourced menu choices.

Turner’s world-class learning programme includes educational activities, events and projects using hands-on exploration and philosophical enquiry. The gallery welcomes hundreds of school children and groups every week. Free Family Highlight Tour Free tours for families run every Saturday and start at 11.30am in the Sunley Gallery, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Explore the gallery as a family by taking part in a free Family Highlight Tour. These tours are designed especially with young families in mind and are packed full of exciting activities to get you all engaging with the artwork in new ways. All ages are welcome but please note they are most suited to families with children aged 12 years and under. Family Highlight Tours run every Saturday and start at 11.30am in the Sunley Gallery, lasting approximately 30 minutes.

Join one of our Engagement Assistants for a guided tour and learn interesting facts, insights, and stories behind the artworks from the current exhibition. Parking available close by behind Lifeboat Station - 1hr £1.75, 2hrs £3.50, 3hrs £5.25, 4hrs £7.55, 15hrs £9.30

 

Access Information

  • The gallery is fully wheelchair accessible with an outdoor ramp and lift serving both floors.
  • Wheelchairs are available for visitors. Please contact gallery ahead of your visit if you would like to book one. Portable stools are also available.
  • Please ask a member of staff upon arrival if you would like to use one.
  • Large print text, magnifying sheets and audio versions of exhibition text are available. Ask a member of staff for more information.
  • Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in the gallery.
