Do you remember your first Margate Pride? Are you curious about Thanet's LGBTQ+ heritage? Know a legendary local love story? Remember a long-lost queer venue? Heard a rumour that's too good not to share?
Call the Heritage Hotline is Margate Pride's cardboard-fuelled exhibition and community archive, sharing ongoing research into Thanet's LGBTQ+ history from the 1960s onwards.
Explore a DIY display of photographs, newspaper cuttings, zines, ephemera and films that begin to trace the area's queer past and the last ten years of Margate Pride.
Then become part of the exhibition yourself!
Add forgotten venues and meeting places to the community map, share local lore and hot gossip on the chalkboard, donate a zine, and step inside the Heritage Hotline phone booth to record your own memories of LGBTQ+ life in Thanet - from nights out and social groups to activism, friendships and everyday moments.
Whether your memories are decades old or happened last summer, every contribution helps build a living, community-generated archive of Thanet's queer heritage.
