Join Nicci at Happy Reading Children's Bookshop for a thoughtful Graphic Novel Book Club as we explore the timely 'WAR' by Eoin Colfer, Andrew Donkin and Giovanni Rigano

9.30am - 10am

Perfect for readers aged 9–11, we'll read together before taking part in a creative, peace-themed activity inspired by the story.

Beautifully written and illustrated, WAR offers children a safe, age-appropriate way to explore courage, compassion and hope through the power of storytelling.

Created by the award-winning team behind Illegal and Global, this powerful graphic novel combines compelling storytelling with stunning artwork to encourage thoughtful conversations about conflict, humanity and the importance of peace.

With additional illustrated interviews inspired by the experiences of refugees, the book offers readers valuable context while celebrating resilience, hope and our shared humanity.

Booking is essential - spaces are limited!

The bookshop is on the first floor, accessed via a flight of stairs.

Children will sit for the reading, then move to a play/craft table for activities. All materials are provided and age-appropriate.

Adults may stay for the event (limited seating available) or relax with a coffee and pastry downstairs in Staple.
