Balearic music, broadly and lovingly defined... at Margate's Faith In Strangers
9pm - 2.30am
Bar/Restaurant open from 4pm - 9pm
A Love From Outer Space began as a collaborative vision between the late, great Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston - a night built around the idea that music should move you slowly, that the best journeys take their time. Since Weatherall's passing in 2020, Johnston has continued to carry the torch with care and conviction, keeping the project's spirit intact while giving it room to breathe and evolve.
The concept is deceptively simple: Balearic music, broadly and lovingly defined. That means electronics that shimmer rather than pummel, rhythms that invite you in rather than demand compliance, and a curatorial instinct drawn from decades of serious listening. Influences drift in from kosmische, from Italo, from the slower, stranger corners of house and beyond. There are no hard edges here, no concessions to trend. Just long, considered sets designed to reward patience and surrender.
Margate feels like a natural landing spot. A town that has always attracted those who do things on their own terms, Faith In Strangers offering a venue with the right kind of intimacy for music this considered. Johnston at the controls means you are in safe, experienced hands.
