Sun, sea, and serious seaside fun! Welcome to your ultimate summer holiday on the Isle of Thanet. To help you squeeze every drop of joy out of your coastal getaway, we’ve put together this handy A-Z guide of our coastline's absolute best bits. Grab your bucket and spade, and let’s dive in!

A — Animal Encounters 
From meeting the array of animals at Quex Adventure Farm, (including the ever-popular Highland Cows!) to bird and bug hunting at Monkton Nature Reserve or seal spotting on a boat trip from in Ramsgate Royal Harbour, there’s lots of varied animal encounters to uncover!

B — Beaches and Bays
Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate's award-winning beaches and bays. Everything from traditional seaside fun like children's rides and building sandcastles to cliff-top walks, surfing, jet skiing or sightseeing/wildlife-watching boat trips. With 16 beautiful sandy beaches and bays stretching from Pegwell Bay in the south to Minnis Bay in the north, all simply impossible to resist.

C — Coastal Explorers Pack 
Explore our beaches with a Coastal Explorers Pack, it’s filled with equipment and suggested activities to help you discover rich heritage stories and natural coastal designations.

D — Dreamland 
No Thanet summer is complete without a trip to the UK's original pleasure park. Ride the vintage rollercoasters, grab some street food, or try your hand at the roller disco.

E — Elev8 
Huge, inflatable and trampoline activity park. Also home to Gootopia slime workshops- get messy!! For summer 2026, also home to a splash zone with inflatable slides and water play for all ages.

F — Family Seashore Safaris
Run by the Thanet Coast Project. Bring your buckets and join a guided safari to hunt for colour-changing algae, crabs, and sea anemones in our chalk reef rockpools.

G — Golf (Mini and Adventure) 
Make your way through the challenges of waterfalls, fountains and obstacles whilst coming face to face with pirates, dinosaurs and ducks. Not just an outdoor activity, available indoors too – ideal if the weather turns

H — Harbour
A walk around Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour is a fantastic way to get the steps in and enjoy the fresh sea air. What boat is your favourite? Why not grab some chips on your walk round!

I — Ice cream 
What’s a seaside summer holiday without ice cream?! We’ve got some of the best options to cool down with an icy treat.

J — Joss Bay Surfing 
Widely known as Kent's best surf beach. If the family is feeling adventurous, book a surf or Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) lesson with the local surf school.

K — Kids Prices: VAT Reduction 
Who doesn’t love a good bargain! This summer a number of attractions and restaurants are taking part in the Government’s VAT Summer Savings campaign.

L — The Loop
Leave the car at home! The Loop bus serves the Isle’s three main towns, and is very regular, meaning no hassle if you want to have a car-free day, and from 1 - 31 August kids aged 5 to 15 can ride for free!

M — Museums
From soaring Spitfires and Hurricanes to deep WWII history in the Ramsgate Tunnels. From Victorian engineering at Crampton Tower to experimental technology at This Museum is (Not) Obsolete, Thanet packs an astonishing range of heritage into a single coastline. Step inside Charles Dickens’ literary retreat in Broadstairs, marvel at natural history at Quex House & Gardens, Home of the Powell-Cotton Museum, or drop into quirky spots like the Crab Museum and retro Micro Museum. N — Nature Reserve (Monkton)
Monkton Nature Reserve is a peaceful, reclaimed chalk quarry featuring lovely woodland walks, trails for the kids, and a field study centre.

Feel the wind in your hair as you get a bird’s eye view of our coastline from Birchington to Ramsgate. Hop on and off whether for refreshments, enjoying beachtime or discovering our attractions

P — Picnic 
Our stunning seaside scenes were made for picnics! Pack up your favourite snacks and head for the coast.

Q — Quex Park Estate
From tractor rides, mazes and giant bouncing pillows to animal encounters, adventure golf, paintballing, craft and the wonders of the Powell Cotton Museum, there is something for the whole family at Quex Park!

R — Rockpooling
Grab your grippy shoes and hit the chalk reefs to spy on crabs and starfish! Stay safe by always checking tide times before you go so you don't get caught out. Remember to be a nature ninja: leave our sea-dwelling pals happily in their pools, gently flip rocks back exactly as you found them, and take only photos home.

S — St Peter's Village Tour 
Attend the flagship award-winning Village Tour and meet many costumed characters from past centuries along with some surprises on the way

T — Turner Contemporary 
Situated right on Margate harbour, this world-class, free-to-entry art gallery is highly accessible and hosts brilliant, hands-on family workshops during the summer holidays.

U — Underground Adventures
Escape the heat into an underground world of tunnels, caves and grotto, where the temperature remains cool and constant.

V — Viking Coastal Trail 
A scenic, mostly traffic-free 32-mile circular route that wraps around the entire Isle of Thanet. You can walk it, or hire bikes to ride along the cliffs from town to town.

W — WonderWorks Margate
Race into action at Margate’s ultimate toy and hobby paradise, packed with classic Scalextric tracks, Hornby trains, and Airfix models! It’s the perfect pit-stop for a rainy summer afternoon where you can challenge the whole family to an epic slot-car race. X — eXcape Rooms 
Put your team-working skills to the test at award-winning escape rooms like The Escapement or CTRL ALT ESC. Solve clues to "break out" of immersive pirate ships, Egyptian tombs, or heist scenarios.
