Solo exhibition by Maximillian Boxer at Margate's Don't Blink Gallery

Rendered through hand-cut stencils and aerosol spray paint, Maximillian mixes the immediacy of street art with the compositional traditions of still-life painting.

Anchored by recurring motifs of flowers and cigarettes - symbols of affection, mortality, habit and desire - the works exist as fragments of unfinished stories, inviting viewers to imagine what has just happened, or what is about to.

Soft gradients created through overspray contrast with crisp graphic edges from vinyl stencils, while slight misregistration between layers introduces a dreamlike sense of movement.
