Dane Valley Woods

A monthly morning of woodland tasks at Dane Valley Woods... more important than ever due to the recent fire

10am - 1pm

On Wednesday 5th August there was an extensive fire at Dane Valley Woods, affecting one acre of the 12 acre site. This resulted in a devastating loss of habitat and wildlife.

The local community have been working on a plan that they are calling 'Recovery and Resilience. Click here for details of the plan.

If you would like to get involved, the Volunteer Community Group will be hosting their next monthly Task Day at Dane Valley Woods at the end of the month.

It is between 10am and 1pm, do pop along to see what they do and help your local community. They initially meet at their HQ in the Dane Valley allotments.

All tools and training provided. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please wear sensible shoes and clothing, and be ready to get stuck in.

You can stay for as long or as little as you like, all help is greatly appreciated!

The tasks are seasonal and vary from month to month, but may include tree sapling care, scrub clearance, path mowing, litter picking, tree sapling care, and wildflower meadow maintenance.

At the end of the morning, volunteers are rewarded with hot drinks and biscuits, back at HQ.
