Monkton Nature Reserve

A special ‘Story Walk’ to listen to the poems or ‘spells’ about the willow, the newt and ivy at Monkton Nature Reserve

These are nature poems that are designed to be spoken or sung.

Visit each of these to hear their poem read aloud.

This is a chance to learn a bit more about the life of these plants and this amphibian as they live side by side at the reserve.

Work with the willow too and make simple hearts from its branches.

The Lost Words is a ‘book of spells’ that seeks to conjure back the near-lost magic and strangeness of the nature that surrounds us.

Part of The National Year of Reading.

The National Year of Reading 2026 is a UK-wide campaign designed to inspire more people to make reading a regular part of their lives.

£5 per child (includes entrance to the reserve)
