With the current heatwave bringing high temperatures to our district, we want to welcome everyone to the Isle of Thanet's 16 beautiful beaches and bays
We want to ensure your visit is as safe as it is enjoyable, especially as the combination of extreme heat, busy beaches and coastal waters presents unique safety challenges.

Be Water Wise
RNLI Lifeguards (Royal National Lifeboat Institute), patrol our beaches and bays throughout the summer season. Please remember to stay safe following their beach safety advice whether undertaking your daily exercise or having a day at the coast. Remember the tides as you can get cut off
Respect the Water is a campaign run by the RNLI providing information on understanding waves, tides and swimming safely in the sea. To find out more visit the RNLI website
Protect the Coastline
All our beaches and bays are beautiful and we are proud of them, please help us to keep them that way. Please use the bins provided or take your litter away with you.
Remember
- Follow the Coastal Codes and information at the beaches
- Drink plenty of water with refill points located at beaches, via the Margate Visitor Information Centre or venue on the Water Refill app
- Stay out of the sun between 11am - 3pm when it is at its warmest and seek shade
- Respect the rights of other beach users
- In need of an ice cream, we have a variety of places
- Park in car parks provided and respect people's property access
- #Respect,Protect and Enjoy our beaches leaving only footprints in the sands
